How to jailbreak or Rooted Starhub Motorola Milestone ?

First I would like to start with – What is Root? To Root is some thing like To Jailbreak or hack. Where you will have access to system file once its rooted. GREAT!!! But, what is the use of Rooting? Well, once you have a rooted device you could modify the OS any way you want like adding your own skin or theme or even you can run application which were rejected by Android Market (in this case).

Guys at Android-Hilfe made this possible (Soda, SeraphimSerapis, Nodch). With the following step by step instructions you can root your Motorola Milestone to gain full system access to Android 2.0.

Warning: Please do it on your own risk. We will not be responsible for any damage or breakage of your phone

Step 1: Download one of this file and save it on the desktop (File One (milestone_root.zip) / File Two (milestone_root.zip)) - Both file are same. but hosted in different place.

Step 2: Rename the downloaded file to Update.zip
Step 3: Copy the Update.zip to your SD Card (On your Milestone)
Step 4: Power off your Phone
Step 5: Now, while holding the Camera button power on the phone – Once you get a Triangle + Exclamation point you are in
Step 6: Apply the update by pressing Volume Up + Camera

  1. the instructions posted does not work for starhub's milestone which comes with android 2.1. the above instructions are only for milestones in other countries which came with 2.0 or 2.0.1. these instructions apply after the owners have self updated to leaked android 2.1. then they can follow the above. for starhub's milestone with android 2.1 out of the box, these instructions do not work. try at your own risk!

  2. another thing, camera+power button does not get you into bootloader for starhub's milestone. try x+power button. keep holding until the starhub logo disappears.
