Android 2.1 solves a lot of issues because it is technically a different kind of processes. You can download Android 2.1 update from HTC website / or XDA forums. However, please do it @ your own risk if you are not experience enough.

“Just got another update on this and HTC have said they are releasing 2.1 on the Hero and we are hoping to have this availible by the end of March.
